1st International Workshop on Network Intelligence (NI 2018)

We are pleased to introduce the 1st edition of the Network Intelligence workshop (NI2018) co-located with the Conference on Innovation in Clouds, Internet and Networks (ICIN 2018) at Orange Gardens near Paris, France.

Network Intelligence considers the embedding of intelligence within the network functions to fasten service delivery and operations, leverage Quality of Experience (QoE) and guarantee service availability. This concept inherits the solid background of autonomic networking, cognitive management, and artificial intelligence. It is envisioned as mandatory to manage, pilot and operate the forthcoming network built upon SDN, NFV and clouds.

The Network Intelligence workshop encompasses two main sessions. The first session entitled, Network Intelligence with Componentization paradigms, discusses the need for a software approach to ease the embedding of artificial intelligence to the network. The second session, titled, Machine Learning for Networks, presents artificial intelligence methods applied to network and resource management. As an introduction to the workshop, we have the pleasure to welcome Professor Kung-Kiu Lau, for a keynote speech entitled “Componentization Paradigms: Past, Present and Future”.

This special workshop is supported by the IEEE ComSoc Emerging Technical Initiative on Network Intelligence. Join us at the ETI NI as a member for cross-fertilization on Network Intelligence research activities. All information is available at http://ni.committees.comsoc.org/.

It has been a great privilege for us to serve as Co-Chairs of IEEE NI 2018 and it is our hope that you find the workshop stimulating and technically inspiring. We thank the authors who submitted their contributions and the reviewers who helped us setting the technical program. Finally, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the ICIN organizers for hosting the conference and supporting its organization.

We wish that your participation in NI 2018 and to the main conference ICIN 2018 will remain as a valuable and memorable experience from both professional and personal perspectives.

Welcome to NI 2018.
